Yohann is a dedicated barrister-at-law with over a decade of practice at the Mauritian Bar. He began his legal career at BLC Roberts and Associates, specialising in commercial dispute resolution, employment law and industrial relations. During his tenure there, Yohann built substantial experience spanning over a broad range of high-profile mandates: assisting a multinational hotel chain in employment and industrial relations disputes; advising a market-leading global online marketplace for lodging and experiences on its implementation in Mauritius; advising a leading multinational electronics and hardware manufacturer on commercial and employment matters; acting for an international investment bank in commercial, debt recovery and employment cases; representing a majority shareholder of a global business company in a high-value international arbitration; and advising a large conglomerate following a major retrenchment process, amongst others. 

 

In 2021, he pivoted from contentious legal work to an in-house position at IBL Ltd, the largest business conglomerate in Mauritius. As their senior legal advisor, Yohann was in charge of litigation, insolvency, employment and media & reputational risks at group level and acted as general counsel for the Distribution cluster and Construction cluster, holding a strategic role in shaping employment contracts and internal policies, navigating disputes, providing  counsel to commercial transactions and mitigating legal risks throughout the group.
